Woman Killed, 3 Injured in Highway 14 Crash Near Newhall Avenue [Santa Clarita, CA]
Fatal Two-Car Accident in Santa Clarita
SANTA CLARITA, CA (October 20, 2020) — A two-car crash on Highway 14 near Newhall Avenue left one woman dead and three family members injured Sunday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Castaic Tow flatbed truck heading northbound in the No. 5 lane struck the rear of a 2015 Nissan carrying a Lancaster family of four.
As a result, the Nissan Sentra became disabled in the lanes.
Not long after, one of the four victims, described as the 48-year-old mother, died at the scene.
Additionally, a teenage male patient sustained major life-threatening injuries while the adult male driver of the Nissan, who might have been the father of the family, as well as a female minor, sustained minor injuries.
According to the investigation, impairment has been ruled out as a possible factor in the accident. Although, the details of this crash remain unclear and CHP officers encourage any witnesses to come forward with information.
We would like to express our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of the victim.
