Alex Garza Dies in Car Accident on 60th Street [San Diego, CA]
Trolley Involved in Fatal Car Accident on 60th Street near Imperial Avenue in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 28, 2020) – Police identified Alex Garza as the victim who died in a car accident on 60th Street on Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Imperial Avenue around 11:45 PM.
Based on a report, the victim was driving a Toyota Prius when it pulled in front of an eastbound light-rail tram at 60th Street and Imperial Avenue. Subsequently, the trolley spun the vehicle around. The impact pushed it about 100 feet down the tracks and pinned it against a utility pole.
According to the county Medical Examiner’s Office, Garza died at the scene.
Investigators think distracted driving was a factor in the crash. In addition, they said that the victim was possibly by his cellphone at the time of the accident. At this time, an investigation remains ongoing.
