Edward Lautaire Killed, Max Lautaire Hurt in Hit-and-Run Accident on Broadway Boulevard [Tucson, AZ]
Edward Lautaire Killed, Max Lautaire Hospitalized Following Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on East Broadway Boulevard Near Sarnoff Drive
TUCSON, AZ (October 2, 2020) — A 9-year-old boy died in Wednesday’s hit-and-run pedestrian accident on East Broadway Boulevard near Sarnoff Drive.
According to the Tucson Police Department, the incident happened around 5:00 p.m.
Police officers say Valentia Lautaire and her two children — 9-year-old Edward Lautaire and 10-year-old Max Lautaire — were in a marked crosswalk when an oncoming BMW SUV struck both children.
Soon after, paramedics shuttled Max to Banner UMC Hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Fortuitously, Valentia escaped harm, but tragically, Edward died at the scene.
Per witnesses, the BMW driver stopped for a brief moment before leaving the three with no aid. The Tucson Police Department added that there might have been two people in the car.
At this time, whether the pedestrian traffic light had been on or off demands more examination.
If anyone has information surrounding this fatal tragic crash, please contact the Tucson Police Department.
