One Killed in RTC Paratransit Bus Accident on Jones Boulevard near Flamingo Road in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (September 16, 2020) – Police confirmed that an RTC Paratransit bus struck and killed its driver in an accident in the 3900 block of South Jones Boulevard on Tuesday morning.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the accident happened near Flamingo Road just before 8:50 AM.
Based on a report, the driver exited the shuttle bus to enter a code into the keypad to enter the gated entrance of Destinations Apartments. Due to unknown reasons, the driver failed to park the bus and it rolled forward.
As the bus rolled, the driver attempted to regain control. However, the rear wheels of the bus hit the victim. The bus continued to move, striking a GMC pickup truck.
Emergency crews pronounced the driver deceased on the scene. Officials have not yet released the name of the driver.
At this point, police do not have details that lead to the crash. However, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
