One Killed in Accident on 8 Freeway [San Diego, CA]

Lanes Closed after Fatal Crash on 8 Freeway near Mission Gorge Road in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 30, 2020) Police confirmed that one person died in an accident on 8 Freeway on early Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened just east of Mission Gorge Road and Fairmount Avenue at approximately 12:40 AM.
 
Based on a report, the incident shut down the five right lanes of the freeway. However, officials did not yet release the full details of the collision.
 
Emergency crews said that at least one person died in the crash. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity.
 
At this point, no other details are available. However, the San Diego Fire Department continues to investigate the case.
 
At this time, officials do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved. Officers ask anyone with information to call the CHP’s Oakland office at 510-547-2875.
