Man Dies in Bicycle Accident on East Grant Road [Tucson, AZ]
Deadly Crash on East Grant Road near Northway Avenue in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ (August 13, 2020) – Police confirmed that a man died in a bicycle accident in the 3300 block of East Grant Road on Saturday night.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Northway Avenue just before 10:00 PM.
Based on a report, the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on Grant Road prior to the crash. Due to an unknown reason, he veered off his lane and an unidentified vehicle struck him. In addition, police said that the victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Upon arrival, Tucson Fire Department personnel treated the bicyclist for his injuries. However, the victim died at the scene. Officials did not release his name pending kin notification.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with the police. Based on an initial assessment, speed and impairment were not factors in the crash.
The case remained under investigation by the Tucson Police Department. At this point, officials don’t have additional information to share.
