Benito So Jr. Dead, Davit Davtyan Detained Following Hit-and-Run Two-Car Crash on Foothill Boulevard Near Pinewood Avenue
TUJUNGA, CA (August 18, 2020) — An 83-year-old man died following Monday’s hit-and-run crash on Foothill Boulevard near Pinewood Avenue.
According to reports, the hit-and-run collision occurred around 1:45 a.m.
Police say that an 83-year-old man was sitting in his parked vehicle when a speeding driver slammed into him.
Inferring from the investigation, detectives believe Davit Davtyan was traveling northbound on Foothill Boulevard before his car slammed into Benito So Jr.’s parked car, killing him at the scene.
However, Davtyan failed to stay at the scene and took off on foot.
Three hours later, as police began investigating, Davtyan turned himself in. Shortly after, officers booked him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.
