Unborn Baby, Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Car Crash on 710 Freeway [Long Beach, CA]
Wrong-Way Driver Involved in Fatal Crash on 710 Freeway at 405 Freeway in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (August 13, 2020) – Police confirmed that a driver and a pregnant woman’s unborn baby died in a wrong-way crash on 710 Freeway on early Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just south of the 405 Freeway around 3:35 AM.
Based on a report, a man was seen driving a white Dodge northbound on the southbound side of the 710 Freeway prior to the crash. Consequently, it hit a 2016 GMC Acadia driven by a 29-year-old woman.
As a result, medics pronounced the wrong-way Dodge driver dead at the scene. They did not release his name pending kin notification. In addition, they rushed the woman to the hospital where she was treated for two broken legs. Authorities later found out the woman was pregnant and her baby had died in the crash.
At this time, it is still unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash. However, an investigation is ongoing.
To the family and friends of the victims, we would like to express our deepest condolences during this painful time.
