High-Speed Chase Suspect Causes Crash on Ashlan Avenue at Manila Avenue in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (August 11, 2020) – Police arrested Jovanni Thomas after a police chase led to a crash on Ashlan Avenue on Tuesday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Manila Avenue at approximately 10:30 PM.
 
Based on a report, Clovis police were investigating a drug deal when the 40-year-old Fresno man drove off in a Mitsubishi Outlander. He then led the officers on a high-speed chase that went through several Clovis streets and into Tarpey Village. Moments later, he crashed into a Toyota Camry. Consequently, both vehicles ended up in the front yard of a home where Thomas tried to run away.
 
Emergency crews took Thomas and the driver of the Camry to Community Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Thomas had two teenage girls with him while there were two other people who were in the Toyota Camry at the time of the crash. Crews did not report other injuries in the incident.
 
Police later arrested Thomas who is a wanted felon. He is facing several felony drug charges, as well as felony hit and run, child endangerment, and resisting arrest.
