Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Modesto

MODESTO, CA (August 11, 2020)—A Modesto man died Monday following a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highway 99 near Sierra Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 3 a.m. when the 41-year-old man was walking on the northbound side of the freeway. An investigation showed the driver had struck the pedestrian, sending him into the middle lane where another vehicle struck him.

As a result of the second impact, the second driver lost control and crashed into a guard rail.

Per officers, the pedestrian died in the crash and although the second driver stayed for police investigations, the first driver fled.
