16-Year-Old Girl Killed in DUI Accident on Sands Avenue [Las Vegas, NV]
Suspected DUI Driver Involved in Fatal Car Accident on Sands Avenue near Las Vegas Boulevard in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (August 3, 2020) – Police confirmed that a 16-year-old girl died in a suspected DUI car crash on Sands Avenue on Monday morning.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Las Vegas Boulevard around 9:00 AM.
Based on a report, a 2017 Toyota Corolla approached Las Vegas Boulevard at a high rate of speed. Consequently, the driver, an unlicensed juvenile, lost control of the vehicle and hit a wall on the north side of Sands Avenue.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said there were three occupants in the car. As a result, the female passenger who was sitting in the front passenger seat died from injuries sustained in the crash. In addition, the driver and an adult who was in the backseat sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Finally, police said impairment was suspected as a factor in the crash. However, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
