Hit-and-Run Driver Wanted After Deadly Pedestrian Crash near Date Palm Street
MECCA, CA (June 13, 2020) – Police confirmed that a pedestrian got killed in a hit-and-run on Avenue 66 on Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Date Palm Street at approximately 8:55 PM.
Officials found a man lying on the right shoulder of the roadway. They also found pieces from a vehicle indicating that a car hit the victim. However, the unidentified vehicle fled the scene.
Emergency crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. They did not release the victim’s name prior to notification of next of kin.
No additional information was provided. However, an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
