Liliana Bautista, Edgar Martinez Killed in Solo-Car Accident on Union Avenue [Bakersfield, CA]
Liliana Bautista, Edgar Martinez Perish in Single-Vehicle Crash on South Union Avenue Near East Casa Loma Drive
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 8, 2020)—Two people died following Thursday’s single-vehicle accident along South Union Avenue near East Casa Loma Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Edgar Antonio Martinez veered off the road in a 2004 Chevrolet and struck a chain-link fence and cinder block wall.
The 11 p.m. accident ejected him, as well as his 24-year old passenger Liliana Lisset Bautista. Per investigations, authorities learned that neither occupant wore a seatbelt.
Unfortunately, Martinez and Bautista died at the scene.
Details pertaining to what drove the crash have yet to be determined, and the CHP urges anyone with insight to call their department.
