Antonio Macias Killed in Car Accident on First Avenue [Wapato, WA]
Antonio Macias Dead, Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Wapato Accident
WAPATO, WA (June 1, 2020) – Police identified Antonio Macias as the victim who died in a car crash on West First Avenue on Monday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near Highway 97 just after 7:00 AM.
A report showed that the 68-year-old Wapato man was driving his 2000 Acura TL sedan westbound on West First Avenue when he failed to yield for the traffic signal. As a result, he crashed into a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jaime A. Aguayo, 22, of Toppenish.
In addition, Troopers said Macias was not wearing his seatbelt at that time. As a result, emergency crews pronounced Macias dead at the scene. Aguayo did not sustain any injuries.
It is unknown if intoxicants were a factor in the collision. However, Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
