Pedestrian Killed by DUI Driver on South Harbor Boulevard and West Katella Avenue [Anaheim, CA]
Fatal DUI Pedestrian Accident in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, CA (January 7, 2021) – A male pedestrian was killed by a DUI driver on South Harbor Boulevard and West Katella Avenue.
According to Anaheim Police, the incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. Upon arriving to the scene, police found a man with serious injuries and an Astro van a block away.
Reports indicate that the van slammed into a palm tree in front of Islander Inn and Suites at 424 W. Katella Ave.
The 38-year-old man driving the white Astro van suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. Once he is released from treatment, he will be charged on suspicion of driving under the influence.
As for the man in his 50s, whom the suspect struck as he ran a red light, he died shortly after.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim was wearing a security guard uniform at the time. The driver of the van struck him while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.
