Moises Santiago Arrested in Deadly DUI Pedestrian Crash at West Katella Avenue [Anaheim, CA]
Moises Santiago Arrested Following Fatal DUI Pedestrian Accident at West Katella Avenue and South Harbor Boulevard
ANAHEIM, CA (January 11, 2021)—Police have arrested the DUI driver who struck and killed a pedestrian Wednesday at West Katella Avenue and South Harbor Boulevard.
According to reports, officers responded to the intersection around 1:15 a.m. and found a victim wearing a security guard uniform lying in a marked crosswalk. A short distance away, police also found a white Astro van that had crashed into a palm tree in front of Islander Inn and Suites.
Upon investigating, police learned that the driver of the Astro van blew through a red traffic light and struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk before hitting the tree.
Due to the brute force, the impact hurled the pedestrian several feet from the point of the accident.
Tragically, the man died, yet investigators plan to release his name once his family has been notified.
Two days later, police charged 38-year-old Moises Lopez Santiago for DUI, after he’d exceeded the blood-alcohol level of .08% or more. Santiago, of Norwalk, sustained serious injuries in the accident and now faces $1 million bail.
In light of this distressing news, we would like to send our sympathies to the friends and family of the victim.
