71-Year-Old Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident on 160th Street E [Puyallup, WA]
71-Year-Old Man Struck and Killed by Vehicle after Exiting Car on 160th Street E near 58th Avenue in Puyallup
PUYALLUP, WA (January 1, 2021) – Police confirmed that a 71-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on 160th Street East on Friday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near 58th Avenue East shortly before 5:00 PM.
Based on a report, the victim bumped his car into a mom pushing a stroller. Immediately, he pulled his car over and tried to cross the street to help the mom. At the same time, a car came and hit him.
As a result, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said the elderly died in the incident. Medics transported him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name pending kin notification.
The driver who hit the man stayed on the scene. Police did not believe that speed or impairment was a factor in the crash. However, the roadway was dark and rainy at the time of the collision.
