Fiery Big Rig Accident in Firebaugh Kills Family of 6
FIREBAUGH, CA (January 7, 2021) – Tuesday night, six people died after a fiery accident on the 5 Freeway near West Panoche Road.
According to reports, the fatal incident happened around 9 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, California Highway Patrol officers determined that a pickup truck and a semi-truck had collided on the freeway.
In its devastating wake, the two-vehicle collision left six people, including an 8-months pregnant woman, deceased at the scene.
Investigators surmise that the northbound pickup truck, carrying the 31-year-old pregnant woman, her three children and 52-year-old mother-in-law, crossed into the southbound lanes for unclear reasons. Then, the pickup collided with the big rig before bursting into flames and igniting the big rig as well.
As a result, all six victims inside the truck, including the 10-year-old, 8-year-old and 1-year-old, lost their lives. However, it is still unclear at this point what caused the accident.
