Rodney Smith Dies in Golf Cart Collision With Jeep at Golden Desert Way and North Desert Bell Drive
GREEN VALLEY, AZ (January 7, 2021)—A 79-year-old Green Valley man died in a golf cart accident Monday afternoon at Golden Desert Way and North Desert Bell Drive.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened around 4 p.m. and involved a golf cart and a Jeep.
Under unclear circumstances, Rodney Smith of Green Valley crashed his golf cart into a Jeep and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital overnight. Meanwhile, the 75-year-old driver of the Jeep sustained unknown injuries and required hospital care.
At this time, no evidence shows that impairment or speeding played a role in the accident; however, the golf cart that’s equipped with a seatbelt was not used at the time of the incident.
