Wrong-Way Driver Causes Two-Vehicle Crash on Cactus Road near 27th Street in Phoenix
PHOENIX, AZ (January 1, 2021) – A Phoenix Police officer suffered serious injuries in a wrong-way crash on Cactus Road on Friday morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near 27th Street around 6:00 AM.
Based on a report, police got a call about a pickup truck driving the wrong way on the westbound lanes of Cactus Road. At the same time, the officer was driving a police SUV west on the same road. Subsequently, both vehicles collided in the lanes.
As a result, Phoenix police said the officer was seriously hurt in the incident. Fortunately, the victim is expected to recover.
Police believe that the driver of the truck was impaired because of evidence found on the scene. However, officials continue to investigate the case.
