Maria Balcazar, Francisco Molina Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 11 Near 10 Freeway
DEMING, NM (January 5, 2021)—Two people died Monday night in a head-on accident on Highway 11 near the 10 Freeway.
According to the New Mexico State Police, the crash involved a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer and a 2003 GMC Equinox.
For unknown reasons, 76-year-old Francisco T. Molina of Deming, N.M., tried passing up another driver by using the northbound lanes. However, his southbound Chevrolet Blazer struck the northbound GMC Equinox head-on.
As a result, Molina died at the scene and the 48-year-old GMC driver, Maria C. Balcazar of Boaz, died at an area hospital shortly thereafter.
Per reports, a 10-year-old and a 6-year-old riding in Balcazar’s vehicle required hospital care, although their conditions were unavailable.
At this time, police have ruled out alcohol as a possible factor but an investigation into the motive continues.
We would like to take this moment to express our heartfelt sympathies to the friends and families of Francisco T. Molina and Maria C. Balcazar.
