Woman Killed in Suspected DUI Accident on Highway 78 Near Sycamore Avenue [Vista, CA]
DUI Wrong-Way Collision in Vista Turns Fatal
VISTA, CA (January 5, 2021)—A 24-year-old woman perished following Sunday’s suspected DUI wrong-way collision on Highway 78 near Sycamore Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-car crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Upon arriving, CHP officials found a 2009 Toyota Tacoma and a 2004 Toyota Matrix with significant damage.
Officers determined that the Toyota Tacoma driver collided with the Toyota Matrix while heading east in the westbound lane.
In its wake, the crash left the 24-year-old female driver of the Matrix deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, police suspected the 36-year-old Carlsbad man operating the Tacoma to be impaired during the accident.
However, an investigation involving the factors continues, and anyone with information should contact detectives.
We would like to take this moment to send our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved friends and family of the victim.
