Pedestrian Struck by Two Vehicles in Fatal Accident on 5 Freeway in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (December 23, 2020) – Police confirmed that a pedestrian died in a hit-and-run accident on 5 Freeway on Wednesday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the American River Bridge.
Based on a report, the victim was on the northbound side of the freeway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, an unknown vehicle struck the victim. Subsequently, the driver of that vehicle fled the scene. Later on, a big rig came and struck the victim again.
As a result, emergency crews said the pedestrian died in the incident. It was unclear which collision killed the person, or if the victim died at the scene.
Officers said the driver of the big rig stayed at the scene and is cooperated with the investigation. At this point, an investigation is still ongoing. Officials don’t have additional information on the hit-and-run driver.
