Daniel Luna Among 9 Killed in Fiery Head-On Crash on Highway 33 [Coalinga, CA]
Daniel Luna Perishes With 8 Others in Fiery Two-Car Collision on Highway 33 Near Sutter Avenue
COALINGA, CA (January 4, 2021)—Nine people, including children, died Friday following a fiery head-on accident on Highway 33 near Sutter Avenue.
According to authorities, the fatal crash unfolded just south of Sutter Avenue and involved a 2013 Dodge Journey and a 2007 Ford F-150.
The fiery collision started when 28-year-old Daniel Luna veered onto the dirt shoulder for unexplained reasons and overcorrected. Subsequently, his Dodge returned to the highway and swerved over the centerline, where he collided with the Ford head-on.
As a result of the impact, the Ford engulfed in flames, killing eight of the Ford occupants, seven of whom were children.
To add to the devastating tally of fatalities, Luna, of Avenal, also perished in the crash.
At this time, officials plan to investigate this case further to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role. If any witnesses would like to help, please contact law enforcement.
