DUI Hit-and-Run Driver and Residents Dodge Harm, Driver Injured Following Tacoma Accident
TACOMA, WA (December 15, 2020)—A DUI hit-and-run driver crashed into a vehicle and a four-plex Wednesday at 49th Avenue Northeast and Norpoint Way Northeast.
According to reports, the DUI incident happened around 10:30 p.m.
At 29th Avenue Northeast, an impaired driver plowed into a vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old man. Soon after, the 23-year-old SUV driver fled the scene, yet lost control and slammed into a four-plex residence.
Luckily, neither of the three people in the living room sustained injury. However, the driver involved in the initial crash suffered non-life-threatening injuries and received hospital care moments after.
Per reports, police booked the SUV driver into the Pierce County Jail for DUI, hit-and-run and destruction of property.
Driving under the influence maximizes your risk of a car accident. When impaired, avoid getting behind the wheel, and instead, contact a trusted friend or a taxi service to bring you home. Doing so promotes road safety and improves your chances of getting home safely without harming yourself or others.
