Arnold Patton Arrested in Deadly DUI Pedestrian Crash That Killed Worker on Highway 94 [Spring Valley, CA]
Arnold Patton Detained Following Fatal DUI Pedestrian Accident on Highway 94 Near Cougar Canyon Drive
SPRING VALLEY, CA (December 18, 2020)—A construction worker died Wednesday following a DUI pedestrian accident on Highway 94 near Cougar Canyon Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 9:55 p.m.
Detectives learned that 69-year-old Arnold Lee Patton drove through a coned-off construction area in his 1996 Lincoln Town Car. As a result, his vehicle struck a 27-year-old construction site worker, causing grave injuries to the victim.
Paramedics responded soon after and transported the victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he died moments later. Authorities have withheld his identity pending family notification.
Per the investigation, Patton, of San Diego, demonstrated signs of impairment and was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
News reports included no other information about this accident.
