PHOENIX, AZ (December 18, 2020)—A 12-year-old boy died Wednesday in a two-car collision near South Central Avenue and the 17 Freeway.
Reports have released the name of the child who died, identifying him as 12-Year-Old Ezekiel Moreno.
According to reports, the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Police say a 14-year-old boy driving a Hyundai Santa Fe down Watkins Street failed to stop at a stop sign. As a result, the Hyundai collided with a GMC Yukon traveling on South Central Avenue.
The accident ejected two boys from the Hyundai, and a 12-year-old remains in critical condition while an 8-year-old faces serious injuries.
As for the two other boys riding in the Hyundai, they suffered non-life-threatening injuries while the Yukon driver dodged harm.
According to officials, impairment has been ruled out as a possible factor in the accident, but an investigation into other circumstances continues.
