Two Killed in Head-On Crash on 10 Freeway [Palm Springs, CA]
Wrong-Way Driver Causes Fatal Head-On Crash on 10 Freeway near Indian Canyon Drive in Palm Springs
PALM SPRINGS, CA (December 9, 2020) – Police confirmed that two people died in a head-on crash on 10 Freeway on late Wednesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Indian Canyon Drive at approximately 11:53 PM.
Based on a report, a 2012 Toyota Camry and a 2020 Jeep Compass collided in the lanes head-on. Subsequently, the Jeep immediately became engulfed in flames. Prior to that, the California Highway Patrol received reports about the Jeep that was headed west in the freeway’s eastbound lanes.
As a result, the drivers of both vehicles died at the scene. The CHP only identified the Camry driver as a Huntington Park man, 33. They are still working on the names of the victims.
The major collision scattered debris and shut down the eastbound freeway lanes between Indian Canyon Drive and Highway 62 for several hours.
The CHP said the collision remained under investigation. In addition, they ask anyone with any information regarding the traffic collision to call the investigating officer, Officer Armendariz, at (760) 772-5300.
