Anthony Leyvas, 6-month-old Xander Leyvas Struck and Killed by Vehicles on South 12th Avenue [Tucson, AZ]

Fatal Accident Tucson on South 12th Avenue near West Bilby Road

 
TUCSON, AZ (December 8, 2020) – Police identified Anthony Leyvas and 6-month-old Xander Leyvas as the victims who died in an accident on South 12th Avenue on Friday, November 20.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near West Bilby Road shortly before 7:00 PM.
 
Based on a report, a 2013 Chrysler 200 was southbound on South 12th at the time of the crash. Subsequently, it made a left turn onto West Bilby and crashed into a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado at the intersection. The impact pushed the truck into a nearby bus stop where it struck four pedestrians.
 
As a result, the Tucson Police Department said Anthony T. Leyvas, 37, and 6-month-old Xander Leyvas died of their injuries. In addition, medics transported two other pedestrians to a hospital for treatment. Crews treated one driver for minor injuries, while the other was not hurt in the incident.
 
The drivers cooperated with the investigation. Police said impairment was not a factor. However, they believe speed played a role in the crash. However, police continue to investigate and they ask anyone with information to call 88-CRIME.
