2 Dead, 3 Injured in Car Crash on Highway 79 Near Dugan Drive [Aguanga, CA]
2 Killed in Multi-Car Crash on Highway 79 in Aguanga
AGUANGA, CA (December 7, 2020) — Two people died in a three-car crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 79 near Dugan Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2002 Honda Pilot heading southbound on the highway drifted to the right shoulder for unknown reasons. From there, it struck a rock embankment, which caused it to overturn into the northbound lane and collide with a 2013 Jeep Wrangler.
Subsequently, a 2017 Nissan Frontier driver who was unable to avoid the collision before him struck the wreckage.
As a result of the accident, a 56-year-old man from Anza sitting as a passenger in the Honda died at the scene.
Shortly after, paramedics pronounced the 62-year-old Aguanga man operating the Jeep deceased, as well.
While detectives investigated the accident, paramedics transported the 62-year-old man piloting the Honda to Wildomar’s Inland Valley Medical Center with major injuries.
According to reports, paramedics also brought the 55-year-old Aguanga Nissan driver and his passenger to Temecula Valley Hospital with moderate injuries.
