Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway near Park Avenue in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (November 21, 2020) – Authorities confirmed that a man died in a pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway on Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Park Avenue around 05:30 PM.
Based on a report, the victim was crossing the street in an unmarked crosswalk at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a 2019 Kia heading eastbound on Pacific Coast struck him.
As a result, Long Beach police said the victim died at the scene. Crews from the Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene to treat the pedestrian, but he ultimately died from his injuries. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office did not yet release the man’s identity pending kin notification.
The 66-year-old driver who struck the pedestrian remained on scene and cooperated with the investigators. Police said that distracted driving and impairment were not factors in this collision. However, they continue to investigate the case.
