Hit-and-Run Driver Jose Almarez Jr. Involved in Reno Head-On Crash on McCarran Boulevard
RENO, NV (November 17, 2020) – Authorities arrested Jose Moreno Almarez Jr. after a hit-and-run crash on McCarran Boulevard on Tuesday morning.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the collision happened just south of Mira Loma Drive shortly before 6:00 AM.
Based on a report, the 23-year-old suspect was heading northbound on the road prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, he allowed his vehicle to cross the median center. Subsequently, he collided with a southbound vehicle head-on. Reno Police said Almarez ran from the scene afterward.
Later on, officials found him a short distance away. Emergency crews transported him and the other driver to the hospital for treatment.
He is now facing DUI and hit-and-run and charges. Police said this is his second DUI offense.
