Man Dies in Santa Barbara Pedestrian-Train Accident at Montecito Street near Castillo Street
SANTA BARBARA, CA (October 15, 2020) — A pedestrian died Wednesday night after being hit by an Amtrak train on West Montecito Street near Castillo Street.
According to reports, the incident happened around 7:00 p.m. as the pedestrian walked southbound on the tracks.
Subsequently, a southbound Amtrak train, approaching the Amtrak station, struck and killed the man.
Due to the investigation, commuters experienced train delays for several hours.
At this point, details surrounding whether the pedestrian tried getting out of the way or if the operator sounded the alarm prior to the crash have not been released.
