20-Year-Old Modesto Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on 680 Freeway [Sunol, CA]
Construction Truck Involved in Motorcycle Crash on 680 Freeway near Andrade Road in Sunol
SUNOL, CA (October 27, 2020) – Police confirmed that a 20-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash on 680 Freeway on Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the Andrade Road off-ramp at approximately 6:30 AM.
Based on a report, the Modesto man rode his Suzuki bike into a construction zone. Subsequently, he drifted into the closure lane and rear-ended an unoccupied Chevrolet pickup truck parked in the center divider area. Consequently, the impact threw him off his bike. He landed in the No. 3 lane of the freeway. The victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
As a result, the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau said the victim died at the scene. Officials did not yet release his name pending kin notification.
At this point, the CHP continues to investigate the case. In addition, officers ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the CHP-Dublin office at 925-828-0466.
