Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash on Highway 395 in Ridgecrest
RIDGECREST, CA (October 18, 2020) – Police confirmed that a 72-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 395 on Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 04:39 PM.
Based on a report, the victim was a passenger in a Toyota Highlander that was traveling southbound on the highway prior to the crash. The driver then made a left turn into a rest stop and mistook a stop sign for a four-way stop and proceeded eastbound. Subsequently, their vehicle collided with a vehicle driving northbound on the road.
Emergency crews transported the elderly woman via medivac to the hospital for treatment. However, she later died due to severe injuries. Officials did not yet release her name pending kin notification.
The circumstances leading up to the crash were not yet available. However, the CHP is investigating the case.
