Driver Strikes, Kills Man Sleeping in Santa Clara Parking Lot Stall
SANTA CLARA, CA (October 22, 2020) — A 74-year-old homeless man died Monday when a driver struck him while sleeping in a parking lot stall at El Camino Real and Halford Avenue.
According to police, the fatal incident happened around 4:30 p.m.
Police investigating the case have determined that the homeless man was sleeping on the ground in a marked parking stall when a 2019 Toyota Camry pulled into it.
Following a brief moment and without exiting the vehicle, the driver reversed out of the stall and struck the man.
Per reports, the driver was unaware of the man sleeping on the ground prior to the accident, which happened a day after the same incident occurred with another driver.
Drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as possible factors of the crash. However, if anyone has more information to add, please contact the police department.
