Driver Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on 101 Freeway [Los Angeles, CA]
Fatal Wrong-Way Accident in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (October 9, 2020) — One person died early Thursday following a wrong-way crash on 101 Freeway near Hollywood Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver of a BMW sedan was traveling southbound in the northbound lane around 1:00 a.m.
Subsequently, CHP officers received news that the wrong-way driver slammed into another vehicle.
Crews arrived at the scene and found the black BMW with significant damage and its driver deceased at the scene. The driver whose vehicle the wrong-way BMW struck sustained major injuries in the accident, urging paramedics to usher that person to a local hospital.
According to police, the incident involved at least four cars; however, the manner in which they collided remains unknown.
At this time, investigators have yet to confirm if impairment had anything to do with this crash, but anyone with information should call the CHP.
