Kenneth Lopez Arrested in DUI Accident on Pacific Coast Highway [Huntington Beach, CA]
Police Officer Struck and Injured in Huntington Beach DUI Crash
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (October 9, 2020) – Police arrested 30-year-old Kenneth Jacob Lopez after an accident that injured a Seal Beach police officer on Pacific Coast Highway on Saturday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Mariner Drive at approximately 3:15 PM.
Based on a report, the officer was conducting a traffic stop prior to the crash. He was standing near his parked patrol car when Lopez’s Ford F-150 traveling southbound on Pacific Coast struck it. Subsequently, the impact knocked the victim to the ground. Consequently, Lopez lost control of the truck, crashed into a nearby wall, and fled the scene on foot.
A police volunteer who happened to be passing by helped the officer. As a result, he suffered moderate injuries.
Later on, the Huntington Beach Police Department located and took Lopez into custody for suspicion of felony hit-and-run and DUI. At this point, the CHP continues with its investigation.
