Joshua Reyes Hit, Kills 70-Year-Old Pedestrian at Mt Vernon Avenue and Niles Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 13, 2020) — The hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian at Mt Vernon Avenue and Niles Street has come forward and identified himself.
Around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Joshua Reyes arrived at the Bakersfield Police Department building and identified himself as the driver involved in the hit-and-run pedestrian accident.
According to California Highway Patrol, CHP officers connected with Reyes and plan to file a complaint with the Kern County District Attorney’s Office pending a full investigation.
The incident stemmed around 4:12 a.m. when under unclear circumstances, Reyes struck and killed a 70-year-old pedestrian. Unfortunately, Reyes failed to stay at the scene and fled the area.
Details surrounding whether speed or impairment played a role in the accident requires full investigation by authorities.
