Fatal Vehicle and Pedestrian Crash on Golden State Boulevard in Fresno
FRESNO, CA (October 2, 2020) – Police confirmed that a vehicle struck and killed a man in an accident near Golden State Boulevard on Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just before 5:00 AM.
Based on a report, the victim had been driving his Honda on a dirt road next to Golden State Boulevard prior to the crash. Upon assessment, police said the driver tried to turn across an embankment when the car became stuck. At that time, he left his vehicle and walked toward the roadway. A short time later, a passing vehicle hit the man.
As a result, emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene. Officers only described the victim as a 24-year-old man from Fowler.
Authorities say the other driver is cooperating with the investigation. The driver said the victim jumped out into the roadway at the time of the collision. However, officers are still investigating the incident.
