One Hit, Killed by Driver in El Cajon Pedestrian Accident on North Mollison Avenue
EL CAJON, CA (October 9, 2020) — A 75-year-old pedestrian died Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle on North Mollison Avenue near Main Street.
According to El Cajon Police, the accident happened around 7:40 p.m. as the pedestrian tried crossing North Mollison Avenue.
At some point, a driver in an Acura struck the victim, who died later despite having received life-saving efforts by police and rescue personnel.
Following the incident, the driver stayed and waited for the authorities’ arrival. Upon investigating, officers determined that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role on the driver’s part.
Additionally, it appears that at least one driver had slowed down to yield to the pedestrian, who’d been walking outside of a marked crosswalk; however, the Acura driver reportedly did not see the person in the roadway prior to the accident.
