Long Beach Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on South Street [Long Beach, CA]
Man Struck and Killed by Vehicle on South Street near Cerritos Avenue in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (September 25, 2020) – Police confirmed that a man from Long Beach died in a pedestrian accident on South Street on Friday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Cerritos Avenue around 7:15 PM.
Based on a report, the 24-year-old pedestrian was crossing the street when he stopped in the middle of westbound South Street waiting for eastbound traffic to clear. Subsequently, a 2011 Toyota Camry driven by a 19-year-old resident of the City of Chino Hills struck him.
In addition, another vehicle, a 2005 Nissan Quest driven by a 54-year-old resident of Long Beach, also came and struck him. Both drivers claimed they did not see the victim on the road.
Officials from the Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and rendered aid to the victim. As a result, the victim to his injuries in the hospital. Yet, officials did not release the man’s identity pending notification of the next of kin.
Both drivers remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Finally, police said neither distracted nor impaired driving was a factor in this collision.
