Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Washington Avenue [El Cajon, CA]
Female Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Washington Avenue near South Orange Avenue in El Cajon
EL CAJON, CA (September 10, 2020) – Police confirmed that a woman died in a pedestrian accident on Washington Avenue on Thursday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near South Orange Avenue at approximately 11:00 PM.
Based on a report, the woman was crossing the road at the time of the crash. Due to an unknown reason, a vehicle traveling westbound on Washington Avenue struck her. It was unclear whether the woman was in a marked crosswalk.
As a result, officers found the victim, a woman in her 50s, with significant head injuries. Subsequently, they pronounced her dead at the scene. The El Cajon Police Department did not yet release her identity pending kin notification.
Police did not consider alcohol or drugs as factors in the crash. However, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
