One Airlifted in Drowsy Driving Crash on 15 Freeway [Hesperia, CA]
Drowsy Driving Leads to Crash on 15 Freeway near Joshua Road in Hesperia
HESPERIA, CA (September 7, 2020) – Police confirmed that one person suffered injuries in a drowsy driving crash on 15 Freeway on Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened between Joshua Road and Main Street around 4:51 AM.
Based on a report, a driver of a Honda was heading home when he starting feeling sleepy. Subsequently, he crashed into a Kia. As a result, CHP officers and San Bernardino County firefighters located the Kia overturned in a ditch and the Honda with minor damage nearby.
Consequently, firefighters requested a helicopter to transport the Kia driver to a trauma center. Crews closed all northbound lanes as the Mercy Air helicopter landed in the scene.
Drugs and or alcohol were not suspected to be a factor in the crash. However, the California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the case.
