Woman, Unborn Baby Killed in DUI Crash on Avenue K [Lancaster, CA]
Suspected Drunk Driver Pursued by Deputies Involved in Fatal Crash on Avenue K at 12th Street West in Lancaster
LANCASTER, CA (September 7, 2020) – Police confirmed that a woman died with her unborn baby in a DUI crash on Avenue K on Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 12th Street West around 9:45 PM.
Based on a report, sheriff’s deputies were pursuing a suspected drunk driver at the time of the crash. Due to an unknown reason, the suspect in a Dodge Ram pickup did not stop for the red traffic signal as it entered the intersection. Consequently, it collided with a red Dodge Avenger before it ran off.
Medics transported the driver of the Avenger to Antelope Valley Hospital, where she and her unborn child died to their injuries. Deputies did not release the woman’s name, pending notification of her relatives.
Deputies were following up on information found in the pickup truck in hopes of locating the suspect. In addition, they ask anyone with information on the case to call detectives at (661)948-8466 or Crime Stoppers at (800)222-TIPS.
