Vehicle Hits 67-Year-Old Man in Fatal Crash on Union Avenue near East 5th Street in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 7, 2020) – The Kern County Sheriff’s Office identified 67-year-old Ricky Ricardo as the victim who died in a pedestrian accident on Union Avenue on Monday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near East 5th Street at approximately 7:45 PM.
 
Based on a report, an unidentified woman was driving south on Union Avenue when she lost control of her car. Subsequently, she struck the victim in the center median before crashing into a building.
 
The coroner’s office pronounced the elderly victim dead at the scene.
 
After an assessment, officials said the woman showed no signs of drug or alcohol intoxication. She remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation. At this time, no other information is available.
