Pedestrian Hit, Injured by Hit-and-Run Driver in Modesto

 
MODESTO, CA (September 3, 2020) — A hit-and-run pedestrian accident near 8th Street and L Street Tuesday left one man seriously injured.
 
According to reports, the pedestrian crash occurred around 8:45 p.m. Upon arrival, police and medical personnel found a victim on the ground.
 
Per Modesto Police Sergeant Lance Nicolai, the crash happened as the pedestrian crossed the street from corner to corner in an unmarked crosswalk.
 
While crossing, a driver traveling westbound on the inside lane yielded to the pedestrian. However, a dark-colored pickup truck traveling behind that car failed to stop, and instead, swerved around the vehicle, subsequently striking the pedestrian.
 
The powerful impact launched the pedestrian toward the L Street curb lane. However, the truck continued westbound on L Street before making a northbound turn onto 7th Street.
 
Fortunately, paramedics regained the victim’s pulse with CPR.
