Ali Fakhreddine Arrested for DUI, Hit-and-Run Following Fatal Pedestrian Accident [Costa Mesa, CA]
Ali Fakhreddine Detained for DUI, Hit-and-Run in Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Irvine Avenue at Mesa Drive
COSTA MESA, CA (September 8, 2020) — A woman and her dog died Sunday after being struck by a DUI, hit-and-run driver on Irvine Avenue at Mesa Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal event happened around 6:34 a.m.
The unidentified woman and her dog were reportedly in a marked crosswalk when 31-year-old Ali Zohair Fakhreddine struck them.
Officers believe Fakhreddine was inebriated at the time his Hyundai drove southbound through a red traffic light before striking the woman.
Fakhreddine failed to provide aid and left the scene shortly thereafter.
However, three hours later, Riverside police officers informed California Highway Patrol that a team had already detained Fakhreddine of Riverside. They added that his 2014 Hyundai had fresh damage to the right-front side.
Moments later, CHP officers arrested him on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
However, if anyone has additional knowledge regarding this accident, please contact Officer J. Patterson with the Santa Ana CHP office at 714-567-6000.
