David Rivera Dead, Brandon Moon Arrested in DUI Two-Car Crash on Highway 101 [Phoenix, AZ]
David Rivera Dead, Brandon Moon Charged Following DUI Collision on Highway 101 Near North Tatum Boulevard
PHOENIX, AZ (August 27, 2020) — A 21-year-old man died Saturday night in a suspected DUI two-car accident on Highway 101 near North Tatum Boulevard.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, both cars were traveling westbound on Highway 101 through a construction zone when the incident happened.
Per investigators, a blue 2004 Jeep Cherokee was struck by a red 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck.
The impact caused the Jeep driver—21-year-old David Justin Rivera—traumatic brain injury, resulting in his death at Honor Health Deer Valley a short time later.
During the investigation, DPS arrested 23-year-old Brandon Moon—the driver of the Chevrolet.
Although Moon admitted to using his phone at the time of the accident, DPS investigators believe alcohol might have also played a role in the crash.
At this time, the investigation remains open and anyone with information should contact the DPS.
This is terrible news that no one should ever have to learn. Our law office would like to send its sympathies to the loved ones of David Justin Rivera.
