Francisco Munoz Arrested for DUI Following Deadly Car Accident on Highway 198 [Coalinga, CA]
Francisco Munoz Detained in Fatal DUI Crash on Highway 198 Near Parkfield Grade
COALINGA, CA (August 17, 2020) — A passenger died following Saturday’s DUI solo-car accident on Highway 198 near Parkfield Grade.
According to Sgt. Hugo Solorio, the crash happened around 4:10 p.m. just west of Coalinga.
Investigators determined that a silver Toyota Corolla, driven by 28-year-old Francisco Munoz, was heading eastbound on the highway. However, for unknown reasons, the Los Angeles man had lost control of the car.
Subsequently, the Toyota spun onto a dirt embankment and overturned before coming to a stop on its wheels.
In the wake of the crash, the right-front passenger sustained major injuries, yet died minutes after while en route to a nearby hospital.
As for Munoz, detectives learned that he had been impaired at the time of the accident and booked him into the Fresno County Jail on charges of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
